About Us

SOCKS held our first meeting on January 19, 2009, 1:16 pm. The organization was founded by Scottie Moore because of a dire need for a cat rescue organization in Rancho Cordova. Rancho Cordova, as with many other communities, has an over abundance of stray and feral cats. We realize the importance in addressing our ever so critical cat overpopulation by attacking it in three ways.

1.  Educate the public on over all pet guardian responsibilities, including spaying & neutering  at 4 months of age and older.

2.  Provide easily accessible low-cost and no-cost spay/neuter services.

3.  Promote and implement successful Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs.

If we don't get to the source of the problem, spay & neutering unaltered cats, we can TNR all we want but we will only be treading water. Our over all mission is to help those who can't help themselves - our stray and feral kitties. And to provide information and help to those who have the same compassion and interest.

SOCKS was incorporated, April 20, 2009, State of California, as a nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. Received "Letter of Determination" approving non-profit status from the IRS on July 16, 2009. Please contact us with questions about any aspect of our organization, to find out about volunteering, or make a donation. We’re always happy to hear from fellow cat lovers.
